CBG train derailment halts bauxite transport operations between Sangarédi and Kamsar

Some thirty wagons of the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG) ore train derailed this Friday, September 15, 2023, a few kilometers from Kamsar, on its way from Sangarédi. This is the gist of a press release issued by the mining company.

"CBG informs that, today, September 15, 2023 at 06:15, CBG train No. 418, loaded, arriving from Sangarédi, derailed at KM 18.4. No casualties or injuries, community or environmental impact are to be deplored", the press release reads.

The derailment brought bauxite transport operations to a halt not only for CBG, but also for two other companies, Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC) and Compagnie des Bauxites de Dian Dian (COBAD), both of which share rail infrastructure through a mutualization contract signed with CBG under the egis of the Guinean government.
