The People's Palace of Guinea served as the setting for the ceremony to celebrate the two years of existence of the Compagnie du Trans Guinée (CTG). This ceremony brought together, in addition to the Guinean authorities, representatives of the companies of the Anglo-Australian mining giant, Rio Tinto, its partner the Chinese state-owned company, Chinalco Iron Ore Holdings, Winning Consortium Simandou, Baowu, another Chinese state-owned company, as well as many other stakeholders of the Simandou project.
The CGT was created on July 27, 2022, following pressure from the Guinean authorities for a co-development of infrastructure - a railway of more than 600 kilometers in length that will cross the four natural regions of Guinea from the Simandou heights in the Forest Guinea region to the Guinean coasts in Lower Guinea where a deep-water port will be built.
The Compagnie du Transguinéen is responsible for developing and managing the multi-operator and multi-use infrastructure necessary for the implementation and operation of the Simandou project. The Guinean State has a non-contributory and non-dilutive stake of 15% in the CTG, while Rio-Tinto Simfer SA and Winning Consortium - Baowu share the remaining shares equally.
