Kindia: reforestation of part of the Koliadi 1 quarry

Officials and citizens from Kindia gathered at the Koliadi 1 quarry this Thursday morning to plant trees. This reforestation initiative is part of the operational action plan led by the Prefectural Director of Mines and Geology in Kindia.

"Thanks to the support of the regional inspector of Mines and Geology and the Kindia prefect, this program is underway. It goes beyond quarry exploitation; the mining code mandates vegetation restoration to protect nature. The initiative will also extend to mining companies operating in the Kindia area. Our plan includes planting 1500 seedlings across 2 hectares," explained Soriba Kouyaté, the prefectural director.

As the saying goes, “Planting is good, but protecting trees is better.” Soriba Kouyaté urged the community to safeguard the plants until they mature, emphasizing the fight against global warming. This effort aligns with the refoundation advocated by the head of state.

Faya Mamadouno, the secretary general responsible for administrative affairs in the Kindia prefecture, expressed joy about this reforestation campaign. Environmental protection is crucial for all nations, especially as we’ve observed high temperatures during the dry season this year. The United Nations system leads efforts in environmental restoration worldwide.
